Read on to learn what else this exciting car from Hyundai's luxury vehicle division (Genesis) can offer.

Meet the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake

The Genesis brand is a relatively new entry into the UK market. Its objective is to entice luxury car lovers away from other executive brands - think Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Jaguar. And despite being the new kid on the block, the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake won Best Estate at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2022.

This dynamic car exudes presence and charm with its long bonnet and sleek lines. It sits within Genesis’ premium collection of luxury saloons and smart SUVs. It is a viable alternative to the Jaguar XE, Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class, Alfa Giulia, and BMW 3 Series Touring. That said, it's a more competitively priced option.Genesis G70 Side 2

Although the Genesis G70 is new to the UK, it has been spotted on international roads since 2017. Thanks to its links to Hyundai, Genesis has access to state-of-the-art tech from other models in Hyundai's extensive range. This is clear to see when it comes to the G70 - it shares its platform and many other similarities with the Kia Stinger.

The elegant G70 is 468.5cm in length, 185cm wide, and stands at a height of 140cm. Thanks to a recent facelift, it has been subtly enhanced - but its unique looks will certainly get you noticed. Think sleek full LED headlamps, striking character lines, and a sporty spoiler to top it off.

The Shooting Brake is the estate version of the G70. It boasts a powerful 2.2l, 200 bhp diesel engine, run by an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car features a high-quality Brembo braking system. The build quality is good, the interior design is plush, and there's plenty of fancy tech on board, including a large, user-friendly touchscreen.

It has a generous boot, which is 40% larger than the saloon model - it offers an impressive 1500 litres of load carrying capacity with the rear seats folded. Advanced driver assistance features help to minimise risks to the driver, passengers, and anyone outside the car.

This car comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty from Genesis. This protects against manufacturing defects. You’ll also get roadside assistance, five annual vehicle health checks, and an anti-perforation warranty. Performance

The diesel G70 Shooting Brake offers excellent balance, fast steering, and plenty of grip. If you want an athletic car that's fun to drive, the G70's thrill level is on par with the BMW 3 Series Touring. Whatever your driving style, it will adjust to your personal preferences with its various driving modes for adaptive suspension. Choose your favourite from four dynamic options: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.

Passengers can expect a comfortable ride in a car that tackles everything from country lanes to motorways with ease. There’s space for two adults to sit comfortably in the rear seats, and the headroom is adequate, even with the tapered roofline.

The G70 Shooting Brake is available in three trim options: Premium Line, Luxury Line, and Sport Line, which is Rivervale’s demo model. The fastest option is the 245 bhp Luxury Line, which can achieve 0-62 mph in only 6.4 seconds. Petrol and diesel engines are currently available, with electric options in the pipeline. In the UK, all engine options are rear-wheel drive. Speaking of premium line models, learn more about the BMW iX3 in our Rivervale Review here

Aesthetics

With its muscular silhouette, stand-out design, and single-piece glass hatch, this car looks good from every angle. The signature emblem grille sits lower than the outward-facing quad lamps, and the car's sporty stance maximises its athletic appearance. The interior is stripped back and uncluttered, but it's fitted with a host of opulent interior features.

Best of all, this sophisticated car doesn’t come with the premium price tag you’d expect from a car of the G70’s calibre. Leather upholstery, aluminium accents, and thick carpets are included as standard across all trims. For the ultimate luxury finish, you can opt for premium stitched Nappa leather.

The cabin promotes driver comfort, with heated seats and a soft leather heated steering wheel included for the Luxury and Sport lines. On the outside, you can choose from 18 colour options. If you fancy something matt, choose the effortlessly stylish 'Bond Silver'.

The car has an intelligent, easy-to-use infotainment system, which is controlled with a 10.25" wide touch screen. Features include full satellite navigation, voice recognition, smartphone interactivity, and real-time traffic data. As well as the sharp touch screen, there is a row of physical buttons on the dashboard. These allow the driver to access all major systems with ease, including ventilation and heating.

There’s a built-in charging pad for your smartphone, plus a decent-sized storage cubby for your small personal items. Whether you prefer to listen to podcasts or playlists, the 15-speaker Lexicon audio system offers great sound quality.

Sustainability and Driving

This car has a 60l fuel tank capacity. It boasts economic fuel consumption on longer journeys, going above and beyond its official 40.7mpg WLTP figure. Its Co2 emissions start from 177g/km.

An electric version of this car is not currently available. However, Genesis has committed to ensuring all new models will be pure electric by 2025, so it’s something to look out for in the future. By 2030, Genesis says all of its cars will be EVs, and it aims to achieve carbon-neutral status by 2035.
